The L1Xe fiber laser, which was presented to the market a few months ago, has received an enthusiastic response from those companies that were able to evaluate its potential during the TECHNOFORUMs held at Salvagnini. Salvagnini designed the L1Xe with a view to creating a laser cutting system that would not only be flexible, efficient, extremely reliable and exceptionally safe, but would also be easy to run and program, competitive and attractive in terms of price, running costs and consumption.
The use of a laser source with a fiber resonator represents a revolutionary frontier in industrial applications of laser cutting. This new technology offers several important advantages: lower running costs, reduced consumption, improved performance and smaller size.
The L1Xe system with a fiber source:
• drastically reduces consumption, thanks to the high efficiency source (η> 25%), considerably superior to a typical CO2 source (η < 10%);
• assures faster cutting speeds and rapid piercing, thanks to the extremely high beam density;
• can process a wider range of materials, thanks to the wavelength typical of fiber, allowing highly reflective materials such as brass and copper to be cut correctly;
• requires a compact and simple layout, thanks to the use of an optical fiber to transport the beam, simplifying the machine's architecture;
• reduces running and maintenance costs, thanks to the simple design of the source and the absence of an optical path.
