The Salvagnini's milestones
Salvagnini was founded in Milan in 1963 with a staff of one: a draughtsman. The company initially designed and assembled oleodynamic power packs using commercially available components. In 1969, Salvagnini entered the automation sector, then in its very early stages, specializing in sheet metal processing. A number of Salvagnini patents led to the creation of Transferics, a new technology for transferring workpieces from one point to another quickly and accurately. In 1975, Salvagnini moved to its current location in Sarego, in the province of Vicenza.
1963 The company is founded in Milan, Italy by Guido Salvagnini, a brilliant engineer with a keen interest in the dynamics of manufacturing.
1977 The first computer controlled, programmable panel bender (the P4) - designed to automatically bend a metal sheet on all four sides - was invented by Salvagnini.
1978 The S4, an automatic, flexible and completely computer controlled multi-press punching and shearing machine with a hydraulic head and right angle shear is introduced to the sheet metal fabricating sector.
1979 Salvagnini integrates the S4 and P4 into the industry's first Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) that automatically punches, shears and bends sheet metal into finished parts.
1985 The first flexible, integrated automatic system composed of multiple process lines that operate in an unmanned, lights-out factory is placed into production by Salvagnini.
1989 The first integrated software for automatically generating machine programming from 3-D models with the push of a button is developed by Salvagnini.
