More productivity and flexibility with S4+P4
By investing in a new Salvagnini S4+P4 flexible manufacturing system, Cerenn Industrie has reached a new milestone in its industrial development. The French partition manufacturer has not only increased output from 120 to 300 panels per shift, but also reduced scrap and energy consumption while establishing a more responsive, flexible and scalable production model.
More productivity and flexibility with S4+P4
Highlights
- Cerenn Industrie
Cerenn Industrie designs, manufactures and markets removable steel partitions with high acoustic performance from its Sarre-Union plant in France, serving French and European markets. Its project-based production must reconcile aesthetics, fire compliance, installation speed and tight tolerances. - The challenge
After more than 30 years, Cerenn’s original automated S4+P4 line was limiting further progress. The company needed to reduce scrap, respond faster and produce small, sheet-by-sheet batches more easily, while integrating project variants and demanding production constraints without compromising repeatability, process stability or product quality. - The solution
Cerenn installed an S4+P4 flexible manufacturing system integrating an MBT bi-tower store for around 30 pallets and 90 tons, SMD, S4 punching machine, MCU and P4-3220 panel bender with P tool, CLA blades and CUT. Maximum bending length is 3,200 mm. STREAM and OPS manage production lists, sequencing and part tracking from ERP/MRP systems in real time. - Results
Output increased from 120 to 300 panels per eight-hour shift, while cycle-time reduction targets were exceeded. Scrap fell by a further 30% and energy consumption decreased by 70%. Weekend unmanned production, higher application flexibility and greater process continuity strengthen capacity and support Cerenn’s growth in subcontracting.
