All the facets of process efficiency
Story courtesy of F. Garnero/Tecnolamiera
L.M.V. Srl is an important metalworking contractor that, in order to improve productivity and process efficiency, invested in an automatic Salvagnini system comprised of an L3 fiber laser cutting system, an LTWS store-tower and, above all, an automatic MCU sorting device for the orderly stacking of parts.
All the facets of process efficiency
Highlights
- L.M.V.
L.M.V. Srl is a sheet metal subcontractor founded in 2010 in the Montefeltro area. It serves multiple industries, with particular expertise in highly customized cabins and external guards for woodworking machinery, combining fabrication, high-quality finishing and pre-assembly to act as a single point of contact for customers. - The challenges
Smaller batch sizes, shorter lead times and a chronic shortage of skilled labor were putting production continuity and process efficiency under pressure. Manual part sorting also created logistical complexity, while bending remained a potential downstream bottleneck. L.M.V. needed greater autonomy, reliable unmanned production and lower cutting operating costs. - The solution
L.M.V. installed a fully automatic Salvagnini system combining an 8 kW L3 fiber laser cutting system, 4,064 × 1,524 mm working range, LTWS store-tower and integrated MCU automatic sorting. ACUT supports compressed-air cutting up to 8 mm, while NEXUS programs part gripping, unloading sequences and stack positioning, including offline nesting management. - The results
"We have already had an increase in production of approx. 30%," says Marco Lucarini, Co-owner. The system processes 60,000–120,000 kg of material per month, including unmanned shifts. Two operators were reassigned from sorting to other activities, while ordered stacking eliminated errors and inefficiencies in internal distribution and logistics. Around 60% of production is cut with compressed air, reducing costs versus nitrogen.
