From operator dependency to flexible flow: how Elviomex reshaped dishwashing machine production

Elviomex is a Greek manufacturer of professional dishwashing machines for commercial kitchens, operating from Inofita with just over forty employees. Founded in the early 1980s, the company produces more than 6,000 machines per year, exports 70% of output, serves 26 countries and supports over 300 customers. - Challenges
Elviomex relied on three press brakes, but bending had become a bottleneck. Long setup times, dependency on expert operators, costly tooling requirements and complex parts with five or six flip overs made make-to-order production difficult, creating errors, inconsistencies and delays in welding and assembly. - Project & technical specs
As part of its lean manufacturing transformation, Elviomex installed a Salvagnini P4-2120 panel bender equipped with CLA positive and negative tools and an HPT loading and unloading device. The solution automated bending sequences for parts with hems, counter-bends and complex geometries, reducing manual handling and improving repeatability. - Results
Cycle time for a complex cabinet component dropped from four or five minutes to about thirty seconds. Daily output increased from around twenty machines, not always consistently, to thirty machines per day in one shift, while lead time fell from three or four days to one day. "Now we can do the same job with fewer people. And with much more safety," says Konstantinos Sardelis, R&D and Production Engineer.
