Highlights

  1. Sedotec
Headquartered in Ladenburg, Germany, Sedotec develops and manufactures low-voltage switchgear systems for the electrical industry. Its modular Vamocon system serves more than 200 contracted switchgear builders. With over 100 employees and annual revenue exceeding €20 million, the company is investing in advanced sheet metal manufacturing to support further growth.
  2. Challenges
Sedotec manufactures around 6,000 different sheet metal parts, including more than 800 door variants, with demanding requirements for dimensional accuracy and repeatability. Replacing an approximately ten-year-old production line meant finding a solution capable of managing high product variability with virtually zero setup times, while increasing production capacity and maintaining consistent quality.
  3. Project & technical specs
The Salvagnini S4+P4 flexible manufacturing system integrates an eight-shelf MD storage tower, an S4 punching-shearing center with more than 70 tools, MCU sorting and a P4 panel bender with MAC3.0 adaptive bending technology. Automated robot unloading serves eight pallet positions, while OPS production management software exchanges data with the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in real time.
  4. Results
Sedotec reports an approximately 50% efficiency increase compared with its previous production setup, driven by improved punching performance, faster throughput and reduced non-productive time. Automated processing minimizes manual setup and handling while freeing production space. "Before we had two punching-bending lines. Now we only need one," says Dirk Seiler, CEO.
